Sevenfold Judgements Against Israel From Isaiah

Sevenfold Judgements Against Israel From Isaiah:

1) A sevenfold description of rebellious Israel:

Isaiah 1:4

1) Ah sinful nation,
2) a people laden with iniquity,
3) a seed of evildoers,
4) children that are corrupters:
5) they have forsaken the LORD,
6) they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger,
7) they are gone away backward.

2) A sevenfold description of Israel’s condition:

Isaiah 1:6

1) From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it;
2) but wounds,
3) and bruises,
4) and putrifying sores:
5) they have not been closed,
6) neither bound up,
7) neither mollified with ointment.

3) Seven things are stated about the rebellious nation of Israel:

Isaiah 1:7-8

1) Your country is desolate,
2) your cities are burned with fire:
3) your land, strangers devour it in your presence,
4) and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
5) And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard,
6) as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers,
7) as a besieged city.

4) Seven things the LORD says in response to Israel sinning against Him:

Isaiah 1:11-15

To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD:
1) I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts;
2) and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
3) When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
4) Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me;
5) the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.
6) And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you:
7) yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

5) In this same passage, there are seven specific areas of the Law and temple sacrifices that Israel had sinned against the LORD in:

1) Burnt offerings
2) Shed blood
3) Treading God’s courts
4) Oblations, incense
5) New moons and sabbaths (feasts and fasts)
6) Spread forth their hands (worship)
7) Prayers

6) Seven indictments against Israel:

Isaiah 1:21-23

1) How is the faithful city become an harlot!
2) it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
3) Thy silver is become dross,
4) thy wine mixed with water:
5) Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves:
6) every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards:
7) they judge not the fatherless,
neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

7) Seven times Isaiah says God is angry with the wicked within the nation of Israel:

Isaiah 5:25 Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

This last phrase and general statement is repeated seven times in Isaiah 5:25; 9:12, 17, 21; 10:4; 14:26, 27.

Lord willing, I will post sevenfold statements about the Lord Jesus Christ and salvation tomorrow.
