Sevenfold Divisions of 1 Corinthians 15

Sevenfold Divisions of 1 Corinthians 15:

A) 1 Corinthians chapter 15 is clearly divided into seven themes:

2. Post-resurrection appearances of Jesus - 1 Corinthians 15:5-11

3. A sevenfold argument for the resurrection - 1 Corinthians 15:12-20, 29-34

4. Contrast between Adam and Christ - 1 Corinthians 15:21-23, 45-49

5. Jesus gives His kingdom to the Father - 1 Corinthians 15:24-28

C) Seven types of bodies revealed in creation:

1 Corinthians 15:39-41

All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is

1) one kind of flesh of men,

2) another flesh of beasts,

3) another of fishes,

4) and another of birds.

There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is

5) one glory of the sun,

6) and another glory of the moon,

7) and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.

D) A sevenfold contrast between our natural bodies and our glorified bodies:

1 Corinthians 15:42-44, 47-48, 53

So also is the resurrection of the dead.

1) It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

2) It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory:

3) it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

4) It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body...

5) The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

6) As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly...

For this corruptible must put on incorruption,

7) and this mortal must put on immortality.
