Sevenfold Passages On Jesus Christ And Cyrus

Sevenfold Passages On Jesus Christ And Cyrus:

A. Seven things are stated about the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Isaiah 42:1-4

1) Behold my servant, whom I uphold;

2) mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth;

3) I have put my spirit upon him:

4) he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

5) He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.

6) A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench:

Same as 4) he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.

7) He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

B. Seven things the Lord will do for Cyrus, the conqueror of Babylon:

One thing worth noting is Cyrus is here called the anointed of the Lord. In several ways he is a type of the Lord Jesus Christ. Definitely worth studying out.

Isaiah 45:1-3

Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden,
1) to subdue nations before him;
2) and I will loose the loins of kings,
3) to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;
4) I will go before thee,
5) and make the crooked places straight:
6) I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:
7) And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places,
that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

C. A sevenfold statement about Cyrus:

Isaiah 46:10-11

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying,
1) My counsel shall stand,
2) and I will do all my pleasure:
3) Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country:
4) yea, I have spoken it,
5) I will also bring it to pass;
6) I have purposed it,
7) I will also do it.
