Seven Articles Of Furniture In The Tabernacle

Seven Articles Of Furniture In The Tabernacle

Exodus 25:8-9 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

First, here is a list of the materials in the tabernacle and what each represents (gleaned from various sources through the years):

Gold - Deity, King

Silver - Redemption

Brass - Judgment

Blue - Heavenly Nature

Purple - Royalty

Scarlet - Sacrifice, Blood

Wood - Humanity of Christ

Fine Linen - Righteousness

Oil - Holy Spirit

Rams’ Skins - Atonement

Goats’ Hair - Atonement

Badgers’ Skins - Humanity or Outward Appearance of Christ

White - Perfection

Leaven - Sin

Honey - Man’s Glory or Man’s Wisdom

Water - Word of God

Salt - Purity

Scofield makes this comment: “Brass speaks of judgment - in the brazen altar, of God’s judgment, and in the laver, of self-judgment.”

The Tabernacle contains seven pieces of furniture (arranged in the shape of a cross):

1. The Brasen Altar (brass) - Exodus 27:1-8

2. The Laver (brass) - Exodus 30:18-21

3. The Table of Shewbread (gold) - Exodus 25:23-30

4. The Golden Candlestick (gold) - Exodus 25:31-39

5. The Altar of Incense (gold) - Exodus 30:1-8

6. The Ark of the Covenant (gold) - Exodus 25:10-16

7. The Mercy Seat (gold) - Exodus 25:17-22
